Research Interests
My present research focuses on the search for shock-metamorphosed grains in several Late Archean-to-Paleoproterozoic spherule layers of putative impact origin from Western Australia, South Africa, and Greenland. This is part of a wider interest in the mechanics of formation and geology of terrestrial impact structures. I was formerly a field geologist conducting mineral exploration in several areas of the western United States. This experience fostered my interest in regional structure/tectonics, hydrothermal mineral deposits, and silicic ash-flow tuff cauldrons.
