Research Focus Areas of Departmental Faculty and Collaborators

WHAT? Research focus areas include: people (scientist mentors and graduate students), graduate programs (within the Dept. of Geological Sciences and elsewhere) offering M.S. and Ph.D. degrees, and activities (courses, workshops, grad student advising, seminars, etc.) to acquire and disseminate scientific knowledge.
WHO? Scientist-mentors and graduate students, many affiliated with units outside the Department, or even housed at other institutions.
GRADUATE DEGREES: Graduate degrees (M.S. and Ph.D.) in Geology are offered through the Department of Geological Sciences. Different degrees will be offered by the other administrative units that house scientist-mentors who are not members of U.D.’s Department of Geological Sciences (for example, oceanography, engineering, geography, plant and soil science, water science and policy, etc.).
WHERE SHOULD PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS APPLY? Prospective students should find potential advisers whose research is appealing, and apply to the administrative unit where those advisers can offer degrees. Prospective students should contact the Program Coordinator of the Research Focus Area of interest for additional direction.
